Welcome to Mountain Music School! We are honored to have you join our community.
Students are supported by friendly teaching staff at our studio in a safe and lighthearted environment. Our mission is to empower students to express themselves with confidence, fostering a life-long love of music!
The following policies are in place to encourage consistency for the benefit of both students and teachers. Learning an instrument requires a level of commitment, and our teachers are prepared to guide students towards their own musical goals with an individually-tailored curriculum.
By enrolling with Mountain Music School, you agree to abide by our policies.
Enrollment / “My Music Staff” Account
Mountain Music School uses an online app called “My Music Staff” to track attendance and payments. To enroll with us, you will create an account from our website which will give you regular access to all of your information.
By creating an account, students/parents/guardians are agreeing to abide by our policies.
Our policies are subject to change as needed. In the event that the policies are updated, the Mountain Music School administration will alert students/parents/guardians via email to the address on file. Policies will always be available for viewing at MountainMusicSchoolSV.com/policies.
Once students are enrolled and scheduled by the administration, the student's assigned teacher becomes the primary contact for the school. Be sure to exchange phone numbers at the first lesson for easier communication.
To respect the teachers’ personal time, we ask that all texts/calls to the teachers happen during normal business hours (9 AM - 5 PM).
If you have trouble contacting your teacher, please call/text/email the front desk at (831) 201-9605 or email.
Enrollment minimum: Students are required to enroll for a minimum of 2 months. Mountain Music School does not offer trial or drop-in lessons.
Rescheduling: Our teachers often have busy schedules. Do not change the time of your regularly scheduled lesson unless absolutely necessary, and that 30 days notice is given to the teacher before the change in schedule. We will accommodate schedule changes to the best of our ability! There are no refunds for lessons if a new time cannot be accommodated.
Mountain Music School has peak hours Monday through Friday from 3 PM - 6 PM. We ask that charter/homeschool students and other students with flexible schedules take lessons outside of these times.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is collected for the month in advance. You will receive a monthly invoice through My Music Staff which will be due on the 1st of the month. A $20 late fee will be added to your account seven days after the due date. If tuition is not paid as agreed, lessons may not resume until it has been submitted.
For new students starting in the middle of a month, tuition will be due no later than the date of the first lesson. If tuition is late, the late fee may be waived for your first month, at the discretion of the administration.
Enrollment Deposit: Upon creating your account, you will be charged an enrollment fee of $60 per enrolled student. This will be returned to you upon discontinuation of lessons, provided you are in compliance with our 30-day policy (see “Discontinuing Lessons” below).
Students enrolled before September of 2021 who were not charged an enrollment fee will be charged a cancellation fee of $60 per student if lessons are discontinued without sufficient notice. Student/parent/guardian will also forfeit any remaining credit.
Tuition for KIDDY KEYS Pre-Piano (and other group classes) is a flat monthly fee. Tuition is not prorated if you must miss a class. If the instructor must cancel a class, a $25 credit will be added to the parent account, which will roll over into the following month, lowering the tuition. There are no refunds unless the class must be permanently or temporarily canceled by the instructor or the school.
Forms of payment we accept:
- PayPal - email@example.com
- Venmo - @MountainMusicSchoolSV
- Credit/Debit - accepted online and stored in your account
- Check - made out to “Mountain Music School” and dropped in our secure box in the lobby
- Cash - labeled in an envelope and dropped in our secure box in the lobby
Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons
Students are allowed one unpaid cancellation per month with 24+ hours notice. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a normal lesson. Any additional cancellations after the one allowed will be charged as a normal lesson. Exceptions are made for Music School closures on federal holidays and changes to the teacher's availability.
If you must miss a lesson, please contact the teacher directly or log in to your account and cancel your lesson online via the calendar. When lessons are missed or canceled without sufficient notice, you will be charged for the lesson. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be accepted in cases of illness or emergency, or at the teacher's discretion or the administration.
If a student must miss more than one lesson in a given month, payment will still be required to hold the spot.
Students/parents/guardians agree to pay for at least three lessons a month by enrolling with us.
Regularly absent students may have their enrollment discontinued by the administration.
Cancellations due to Covid exposure: If the student has been exposed to Covid-19 and must be quarantined at home, the lesson can be taught online instead of in person. If the teacher cannot offer an online lesson, the student will receive a credit on their account. There are no refunds for lessons.
Extended breaks in the Summer: The school will allow one extra monthly cancellation for June, July, and August. If you plan to miss more than two weeks of lessons, you will be required to pay for your spot to hold it. Otherwise, your spot will be given to another student.
Make-Up Lessons: When lessons are canceled with ample notice, students will have the opportunity to schedule a make-up lesson, given the teacher's availability and the studio. If a make-up is not possible, the credit for the lesson will roll over into the following month. If your teacher must cancel a lesson, your account will be credited. There are no refunds for missed lessons. If a make-up lesson is missed due to another change in the student's schedule, the make-up lesson will be forfeited.
Make-up lessons are not applicable to KIDDY KEYS or other group classes.
We require written notice at least 30 days before the final lesson to discontinue lessons. This policy is intended to give our teachers ample time to fill the spot before the lessons cease. There are no refunds for lessons. If lessons are discontinued without sufficient notice, the $60 enrollment deposit will not be returned, and all remaining credit will be forfeited.
For the safety of our students and staff, we ask students to stay home if they are experiencing any Covid-like symptoms (such as fever/chills, cough, difficulty breathing, body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, or nausea). In cases of illness or exposure, lessons can be taken online. Given the availability of the teacher and the studio, they may be rescheduled.
We are following county masking requirements.
If you are not on time for your lesson, your appointment cannot be extended to compensate for your tardiness. Because of studio schedules, the next lesson must start on time. If the teacher is late, you may be entitled to a make-up or a discounted lesson.
Please do not leave your children unattended in the lobby for their safety. There is no daycare service or staff member to supervise unaccompanied children. If a parent/guardian drops the student off and leaves, the child will be unsupervised before and after their scheduled lesson time. Mountain Music School and its affiliates are not responsible for the supervision of the child.
Upon enrollment, Mountain Music School is granted permission to take photographs of students for use in promotional materials and social media. Permission is also granted for Mountain Music School to copyright such photographs in its name.
If the student/parent/guardian wishes to opt-out of this release, they should contact the administration at firstname.lastname@example.org. Group photos, such as recital photos, may still be used.
Upon enrollment, students, parents, or legal guardians of minor students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on the property of Mountain Music School for any reason.
