Policies

Welcome to Mountain Music School!

We are excited to be a part of your musical journey. At our studio, students are supported by friendly teaching staff in a safe and lighthearted environment. Our goal is to empower students with the ability to express themselves with confidence, and have fun along the way!

Our policies encourage students to maintain regularity with their music playing. Learning an instrument requires a level of commitment and discipline, and our teachers are prepared to guide students towards their personal goals. 

My Music Staff: Mountain Music School uses an online app called “My Music Staff” designed to track attendance, take and record payments, keep lesson notes, and more. Upon enrollment, you will receive a personal login where you can view your account anytime!

Tuition and Fees: Tuition is collected in advance, on a monthly basis. You will receive a monthly invoice through My Music Staff which will be due on the 1st of the month.  There is a $10 fee for late tuition unless prior arrangements have been discussed with the director.  If tuition is not paid as agreed, lessons may not resume until it has been submitted. 

Upon enrollment, a $60 registration deposit will be required to secure your spot. This will be returned to you upon discontinuation of lessons, provided you are in compliance with our 30-day policy (see below).

  • Check (made out to “Mountain Music School” and dropped in our secure box in the lobby)
  • Cash (labeled in an envelope and dropped in our secure box in the lobby)

Cancellations: We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you must miss a lesson, please login to My Music Staff and cancel your lesson online at least 24 hours before the time of the lesson. When lessons are missed or canceled without sufficient notice, you will be charged for the lesson. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be accepted in cases of sickness or emergency, or at the discretion of the teacher. 

  • Make up Lessons: When lessons are canceled with proper notice, you will receive a make up credit on your account. In the event that a make up is not possible, you will receive a roll-over credit for the following month. If your teacher must cancel a lesson, your account will be credited.

**Tuition for our KIDDY KEYS Pre-Piano class is a flat monthly fee. Tuition is not prorated if you must miss a class. If the instructor must cancel a class, you will receive a credit on your account.**

  • Extended breaks: If you decide to take an extended break from lessons (4+ weeks), a fee of 50% of your normal monthly tuition will be required to hold your spot. Otherwise, it will be treated as discontinuation and your spot will be given to another student.

Discontinuing lessons: To discontinue lessons, we require a 30-day written notice unless prior arrangements have been made in writing with the director. There are no refunds for lessons. If lessons are discontinued without sufficient notice, your $60 enrollment deposit will not be returned and you will forfeit your remaining lessons. This policy is intended to allow our teachers to fill the spot before the lessons cease. Extenuating circumstances can be discussed with the director. 

Covid-19 protocols: For the safety of our students and staff, we ask students to stay home if they are experiencing any symptoms (such as fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, or nausea). In cases of illness or exposure, lessons can be taken online. Other safety measures we are taking include:

  • Requiring masks to be worn at all times inside the school
  • Sanitizer and masks are provided for staff and students
  • Surfaces are regularly disinfected

Tardiness: If you are not on time for your lesson, your appointment cannot be extended to compensate for tardiness. Because of studio schedules, the next lesson must start on time. If the teacher is late, you may be entitled to a make up credit. 

Drop off: For your children's safety, please do not leave them unattended in the lobby. There is no daycare service available, and they will be unsupervised. If you drop your student off and leave, Mountain Music School and its affiliates are not responsible for your child. 

Photo Release: Upon enrollment, Mountain Music School is granted permission to take photographs of students for use in promotional materials and social media. Permission is also granted for Mountain Music School to copyright such photographs in its name. (Option to opt-out of photo release is given upon enrollment.) 

Liability: Upon enrollment, students, parents, or legal guardians of minor students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on the property of Mountain Music School for any reason.
