Policies
Welcome to Mountain Music School! We are thrilled to have you as part of our vibrant community. Our studio provides a friendly and nurturing environment where students can explore their musical talents safely and enjoyably. Our mission is to inspire students to express themselves confidently and cultivate a lifelong love for music.
To ensure consistency and create a positive learning experience for both students and teachers, we have established the following enrollment policies. Learning an instrument requires dedication, and our teachers are committed to guiding students towards their unique musical goals through individually-tailored curricula.
By enrolling with Mountain Music School, you agree to comply with these policies.
Enrollment and "My Music Staff" Account:
Mountain Music School utilizes an online app called "My Music Staff" to track attendance and payments. To enroll, you will need to create an account on our website, granting you regular access to all your information.
By creating an account, students, parents, or guardians acknowledge and agree to adhere to our policies.
Please note that our policies may be subject to updates as necessary. In the event of policy changes, Mountain Music School administration will notify students, parents, or guardians via email using the address on file. Policies will also be available for viewing at MountainMusicSchoolSV.com/policies.
Once enrolled and scheduled by the administration, the assigned teacher becomes the primary point of contact for the school. We recommend exchanging phone numbers during the first lesson to facilitate communication. To respect our teachers' personal time, we kindly request that all calls and texts to teachers occur during regular business hours (9 AM - 5 PM). If you encounter difficulties reaching your teacher, please contact the front desk at (831) 201-9605 or email.
Enrollment Duration:
Students are required to enroll for a minimum of two months.
Depending on availability, Mountain Music School may offer one trial lesson before requiring formal enrollment to continue.
Drop-in lessons are available at a higher rate, except during peak hours (3:00 to 5:30 PM).
Lesson Rescheduling:
Our teachers maintain busy schedules, so we kindly ask that you avoid changing the time of your regularly scheduled lesson unless absolutely necessary. If a change is necessary, please provide at least 30 days' notice to your teacher. We will make every effort to accommodate schedule changes. However, please note that there are no refunds for missed lessons if a new time cannot be arranged.
Please be aware that Mountain Music School experiences peak hours Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM. We kindly request that charter/homeschool students and other students with flexible schedules schedule their lessons outside of these peak hours.
Tuition and Fees:
Tuition is collected in advance on a monthly basis. You will receive a monthly invoice through My Music Staff, which is due on the 1st of each month. A late fee of $20 will be added to your account seven days after the due date. Lessons may be withheld if tuition remains unpaid.
For new students starting in the middle of a month, tuition is due no later than the date of the first lesson. The late fee may be waived for the first month at the discretion of the administration.
Upon enrollment, you will be charged an registration deposit of $150 per student. This deposit will be refunded upon discontinuation of lessons, provided you comply with our 30-day notice policy (see "Discontinuing Lessons" below).
Group class tuition, such as KIDDY KEYS Pre-Piano and the Little Mountain Singers, is charged at a flat monthly rate. Tuition is not prorated for missed classes. If an instructor cancels a class, a credit will be applied to the parent account, which will carry over to the following month, reducing the tuition. Refunds are only granted if a class is permanently or temporarily canceled by the instructor or the school.
To make a payment, we accept the following forms:
- PayPal: mountainmusicschoolsv@gmail.com
- Venmo: @MountainMusicSchoolSV
- Credit/Debit cards: Accepted online and securely stored in your account
- Check: Made out to "Mountain Music School" and dropped in our secure lobby box
- Cash: Labeled in an envelope and dropped in our secure lobby box
Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons:
Students are allowed one excused cancellation per month with a notice of 24 hours or more. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged as a regular lesson. Additional cancellations beyond the allowed one will also be charged as regular lessons. Exceptions may be made for Music School closures on federal holidays or teacher availability changes.
If you need to cancel a lesson, please log in to your account and cancel it online. Failure to provide sufficient notice for cancellations or missed lessons will result in charges. Tuition guarantees your spot on our calendar. While we may offer make-up options when available, the school is not obligated to do so.
If a student must miss more than one lesson in a given month, payment is still required to hold the spot.
Extended Summer Breaks:
During June and July, the school allows one additional monthly cancellation. If you plan to miss more than two weeks of lessons, you will need to pay for your spot to reserve it. Otherwise, your spot may be given to another student.
Make-Up Lessons:
When lessons are canceled with sufficient notice, students will have the opportunity to schedule a make-up lesson based on teacher and studio availability. If a make-up lesson cannot be arranged, a credit for the missed lesson will be applied to your account. If your teacher cancels a lesson, your account will be credited. Please note that there are no refunds for missed lessons. If a make-up lesson is missed due to another change in the student's schedule, the make-up lesson will be forfeited.
Make-up lessons do not apply to KIDDYKEYS or other group classes.
Discontinuing Lessons:
To discontinue lessons, we require written notice at least 30 days before the final lesson. This policy allows our teachers ample time to fill the spot before lessons cease. Lessons are non-refundable. Once notice to discontinue has been given, payment is required for the remaining four appointments. If lessons are discontinued without sufficient notice, the $150 enrollment deposit will not be refunded, and any remaining credit will be forfeited.
Tardiness:
If you arrive late for your lesson, please understand that your appointment cannot be extended to compensate for the lost time. Subsequent lessons must start on time to accommodate the studio schedule. In the event that the teacher is late, you may be entitled to a make-up lesson or a discounted lesson.
Drop-Off:
For the safety of your children, please refrain from leaving them unattended in the lobby. We do not provide daycare services or have staff members available to supervise unaccompanied children. If a parent or guardian drops off a student and leaves, the child will be unsupervised before and after their scheduled lesson time. Mountain Music School and its affiliates are not responsible for the supervision of children.
Photo Release:
Upon enrollment, Mountain Music School is granted permission to take photographs of students for use in promotional materials and on social media. Permission is also granted for Mountain Music School to copyright such photographs.
If the student, parent, or guardian wishes to opt-out of this release, please contact the administration at info@mountainmusicschoolsv.com. Please note that group photos, such as recital photos, may still be used.
Liability:
Upon enrollment, students, parents, or legal guardians of minor students waive the right to pursue any legal action for any injuries sustained on the premises of Mountain Music School, regardless of the cause.
We hope these policies provide clarity and ensure a positive experience for everyone at Mountain Music School. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to embarking on this musical journey with you!
