Policies

Welcome to Mountain Music School! We are honored to have you join our community.

Students are supported by friendly teaching staff at our studio in a safe and lighthearted environment. Our mission is to empower students to express themselves with confidence, fostering a life-long love of music!

The following policies are in place to encourage consistency for the benefit of both students and teachers. Learning an instrument requires a level of commitment, and our teachers are prepared to guide students toward their own musical goals with an individually-tailored curriculum.

You agree to abide by our policies by enrolling with Mountain Music School.

Enrollment / “My Music Staff” Account

Mountain Music School uses an online app called “My Music Staff” to track attendance and payments. To enroll with us, you will create an account on our website, giving you regular access to all your information.

By creating an account, students/parents/guardians are agreeing to abide by our policies.

Our policies are subject to change as needed. If the policies are updated, the Mountain Music School administration will alert students/parents/guardians via email to the address on file. Policies will always be available for viewing at MountainMusicSchoolSV.com/policies

Once students are enrolled and scheduled by the administration, the student's assigned teacher becomes the primary contact for the school. Be sure to exchange phone numbers at the first lesson for easier communication.

To respect the teachers’ personal time, we ask that all texts/calls to the teachers happen during normal business hours (9 AM - 5 PM).

If you have trouble contacting your teacher, please call/text/email the front desk at (831) 201-9605 or email.

Enrollment minimum: Students are required to enroll for a minimum of 2 months.

Depending on availability, MMS may accommodate one trial lesson before requiring enrollment to continue.

Drop-in lessons are available at a higher rate, except during peak hours (3:00 to 5:30 PM).

Rescheduling: Our teachers often have busy schedules. We ask that you do not change the time of your regularly scheduled lesson unless absolutely necessary, and that 30 days notice is given to the teacher before the change in schedule. We will accommodate schedule changes to the best of our ability! There are no refunds for lessons if a new time cannot be accommodated.

Mountain Music School has peak hours Monday through Friday from 3 PM - 6 PM. We ask that charter/homeschool students and other students with flexible schedules take lessons outside of these times.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is collected for the month in advance. You will receive a monthly invoice through My Music Staff, due on the 1st of the month. A $20 late fee will be added to your account seven days after the due date.  If tuition is not paid as agreed, lessons may not resume until it has been submitted.

For new students starting in the middle of a month, tuition will be due no later than the date of the first lesson. If tuition is late, the late fee may be waived for your first month at the discretion of the administration.

Enrollment Deposit: Upon signing up, you will be charged an enrollment fee of $150 per enrolled student. This will be returned to you upon discontinuation of lessons, provided you are in compliance with our 30-day policy (see “Discontinuing Lessons” below).

Tuition for group classes: KIDDY KEYS Pre-Piano and the Little Mountain Singers are a flat monthly fee. Tuition is not prorated if you must miss a class. If the instructor must cancel a class, a credit will be added to the parent account, which will roll over into the following month, lowering the tuition. There are no refunds unless the class must be permanently or temporarily canceled by the instructor or the school.

Only 2 weeks notice is required for discontinuation from our group classes.

Forms of payment we accept:

    • PayPal - mountainmusicschoolsv@gmail.com
    • Venmo - @MountainMusicSchoolSV
  • Credit/Debit  - accepted online and stored in your account
  • Check - made out to “Mountain Music School” and dropped in our secure box in the lobby
  • Cash - labeled in an envelope and dropped in our secure box in the lobby

Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons

Students may claim one excused cancellation per month with 24+ hours notice. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a normal lesson. Any additional cancellations after the one allowed will be charged as a normal lesson. Exceptions for Music School closures on federal holidays and teacher availability changes are made.

If you must miss a lesson, please log in to your account and cancel your lesson online. You will be charged when lessons are missed or canceled without sufficient notice. Tuition guarantees your spot on our calendar; In the event that lessons must be missed, the school may offer make-up options as they are available, but is under no obligation to do so.

If a student must miss more than one lesson in a given month, payment will still be required to hold the spot.

Extended breaks in the Summer: The school will allow one extra monthly cancellation for June and July. If you plan to miss more than two weeks of lessons, you will be required to pay for your spot to hold it. Otherwise, your spot will be given to another student.

Make-Up Lessons: When lessons are canceled with sufficient notice, students will have the opportunity to schedule a make-up lesson, given the availability of the teacher and the studio. If a make-up is not possible, the credit for the missed lesson will be applied to your account. If your teacher must cancel a lesson, your account will be credited. There are no refunds for missed lessons. If a make-up lesson is missed due to another change in the student's schedule, the make-up lesson will be forfeited.

Make-up lessons do not apply to KIDDYKEYS or other group classes.

Discontinuing Lessons

We require written notice at least 30 days before the final lesson to discontinue lessons. This policy is intended to give our teachers ample time to fill the spot before the lessons cease. There are no refunds for lessons. Once notice to discontinue has been given, payment is required for all 4 remaining appointments. If lessons are discontinued without sufficient notice, the $150 enrollment deposit will not be returned, and all remaining credit will be forfeited.

Tardiness

If you are not on time for your lesson, your appointment cannot be extended to compensate for your tardiness. Because of studio schedules, the next lesson must start on time. If the teacher is late, you may be entitled to a make-up or a discounted lesson.

Drop off

Please do not leave your children unattended in the lobby for their safety. There is no daycare service or staff member to supervise unaccompanied children. If a parent/guardian drops the student off and leaves, the child will be unsupervised before and after their scheduled lesson time. Mountain Music School and its affiliates are not responsible for the supervision of the child.

Photo Release

Upon enrollment, Mountain Music School is granted permission to take photographs of students for use in promotional materials and social media. Permission is also granted for Mountain Music School to copyright such photographs in its name.

If the student/parent/guardian wishes to opt-out of this release, they should contact the administration at info@mountainmusicschoolsv.com. Group photos, such as recital photos, may still be used.

Liability

Upon enrollment, students, parents, or legal guardians of minor students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on the property of Mountain Music School for any reason.
