We're not just another music studio.
We're a family.
At Mountain Music School, we believe in the transformative power of music as a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, gender, class, and color. Music possesses the remarkable ability to unite, empower, dignify, uplift, and inspire us to lead more fulfilling lives.
Our mission extends beyond providing music lessons; we strive to ignite inspiration and make a profound impact within our students and the community through this rich and diverse language. We recognize that music goes beyond being a mere hobby, as it has consistently shown to enhance lives in numerous ways. It refines fine motor skills, fosters personal discipline, improves concentration, and promotes teamwork. It serves as a vibrant expression of a life well-lived.
With unwavering dedication, we aim to instill the same level of passion in our students, knowing that their shared enthusiasm for music has the power to bring positive change to the world. As role models, we aspire to inspire a profound love for music and cultivate a strong sense of community within our students. Together, let us embark on a musical journey that transcends boundaries and fosters personal and collective growth.
At Mountain Music School, our approach is two-fold:
Make Music Available to Everyone
It doesn’t matter your age or ability — if you want to become a better musician, we want to help. We’re conveniently located in Scotts Valley, so you won’t have to search all over town for a private studio. And we keep our rates affordable, making this an investment that’s both financially savvy and personally fulfilling for you and your family.
Build a Culture of Music
Though we are located very close to larger cities, we believe that there is a music scene waiting to break out right here in our own community. All of our teachers are engaged with performance opportunities where students and their families can be involved. We also offer plenty of performance opportunities for our students, giving students ample opportunity to grow as musicians and performers.

Guided by a clear, unwavering vision for the school and its relationship with the surrounding community, Sydney strives to nourish Mountain Music’s continuing growth with compassionate, dedicated leadership. In addition to running the school, she maintains a busy teaching schedule which keeps her well connected to the needs of the staff, students and their families.
Raised in a musical household, her childhood was filled with joyful experiences that sparked her dream of a local music school.
